The Arcane Court was created in the early 1600’s to police paranormal individuals. It was a reaction to Cimmerian, a dragon, saving Wretch, a demon-dragon hybrid from his psychotic demon family.
At the start of the series, the court is made up of five dragons and two demons who established the laws. This will change as we go along.
Their main law is simple: No abuse of humans for fun and entertainment. Humans are not lab rats and we will not tolerate demons who use humans for games which result in death to the human.
Cim and Wretch work for the Court in New Orleans. They hunt rogue demons and keep vigilant watch out for Wretch’s family. Cim protects the humans in his city from a danger they don’t know is lurking. He owns a paranormal club in the French Quarter across from the French Quarter Market. The manager/bartender is Grace, a jaguar shifter who Cim thinks of, and treats, as a daughter. Along with the local werewolf pack, they try to keep peace while enjoying as many vices as possible.
The series so far:
Book One: Death Dealer – My name is Cimmerian. I’m a dragon shifter living in New Orleans. Someone is screwing up my pre-Mardi Gras plans by leaving mutilated human bodies all over town. I have to find out whether or not a demon is behind this. If so, are they building a human to animate with demon magic? If not, we have a human serial killer just in time for the town to flood with tourists. Things were so much quieter on vacation. Damn, I’m glad to be back at work.
Book Two: Red Lady – The oldest living demon drug dealer is trying to take over Las Vegas. His newest creation, Red Lady, allows shifters to see demons as they materialize, which could tip the balance of species domination. Granted, in a direction I like, except, there’s a catch. The drug is so addictive shifters will do anything to feed their habit and distribution in energy drinks has human’s hooked. Including my ex-fiance’s boyfriend. I have to go to Vegas and save him, among others. This is going to suck.
Novella: Demon Child – Makenna, half demon daughter of Raye, is adjusting to puberty by watching every horror movie she can. When threatened or stressed, she shifts into the bad guys. Even at school.
As a Dragon Lord of the Arcane Court, it’s my job to hunt down demons who toy with or kill humans. My bonus is the magic I absorb sucking down their putrid squirming souls. The new local demon lord, Kragen, is the oldest living drug dealer and we blew up his primary warehouse in Vegas last year.
I’m sure he’s planning ways to pick my scales off one by one. In the meantime, his most dangerous henchman captured human woman, chained them to a wall, and made sure I got a picture by also capturing a fellow dragon.
I know it’s a setup, I don’t care. No one hurts humans in my town. If my demon powers keep me alive long enough to survive the trap.
Book Four: Fanged Deception –
